Academic Requirements:
  • Undergraduate: Senior secondary school certificate (e.g., Class 12 in India: minimum 70% in CBSE/ICSE or 85% in State Board)
  • Postgraduate: Relevant bachelor’s degree with a GPA of 5.0 on a 7.0 scale (or equivalent)
  • PhD / Research: Master’s degree or equivalent with a strong academic record
Language Requirements

UQ requires English language proficiency for all programs. Tests must be taken within 2 years of commencing study.

  • TOEFL iBT: 87 overall
  • PTE Academic: 64 overall

NOTE: Some programs, such as Medicine, Nursing, Law, and Psychology, require higher English scores. Always check your specific program page for exact requirements. IELTS Online and PTE Academic Online are not accepted by UQ.

NOTE for Indian Students: If your IELTS score meets the academic requirement but falls slightly short, UQ College offers English language pathway programs (Bridging English or Integrated English) lasting 5 to 45 weeks. This is a legitimate route into UQ without having to retake your degree.

Living Costs in Brisbane

Brisbane is considered one of Australia’s more affordable major cities for students. Estimated annual living expenses include accommodation, food, transport, health insurance, and personal expenses. Total Estimated Living Cost is AUD 18,000 – 30,000 (₹9.8L – ₹16.3L).

The Australian Government requires student visa applicants to show a minimum of AUD 29,710 (₹16.1L approx.) per year as proof of living funds when applying for the Student Visa (Subclass 500). This is separate from tuition fees.
