Deakin University is a publicly owned university based in Victoria, Australia, and named after Alfred Deakin, the second prime minister of Australia. The university was founded in 1974 and has over 60,000 students representing more than 130 countries.

What makes Deakin unique is the results. It has been awarded the top university for course satisfaction in Victoria for 13 successive years and the university for graduate employment in Victoria. 93% of undergraduates and 95% of all postgraduates were employed within four months after graduation.

For Indians, Deakin is one of the most sought-after institutions of higher learning in Australia. India accounts for more than 35% of Deakin’s international students, the largest from any individual country. There is an India-specific scholarship scheme, a very vibrant group of Indian students, and a Deakin campus in Gujarat, India (in association with GIFT City).

Deakin’s GIFT City campus in Gujarat is the first foreign university campus in India under the new national education policy. If you want a Deakin degree without leaving India, this is a new option worth looking at separately at deakin.edu.au/gift-city.
